Love great coffee when you travel? The Porlex Tall Coffee Grinder II is powerful, lightweight, and durable enough for any adventure. Manually powered, you’ll never be limited by batteries or electricity when you’re ready to hand grind coffee on the road.

Take it with you across the world or down the street. Either way, it’ll grind your coffee with ease and consistency.

The grinder’s ceramic conical burrs are rust resistant, encourage grind uniformity, and will remain sharp for years. The Porlex Tall II hand grinder still comes with the durable and long lasting stainless steel body, grinds cup, lid, and handle; With the inner burr, inner burr insert with spring and outer burr, completely being redesigned with over 12 months of R&D,  with upgraded materials for the interior housing.

The Inside components have been improved for better particle size distribution. This includes more reliable grind adjustments of 16 clicks grind change per rotation (around 37 microns between clicks) and allows you to easily switch back and forth between settings for French press, espresso, and everything in between. Additionally with a new claw-foot shape to the body you can rest the grinder upright when the grinds cup is removed.

Basic Grind Setting Guide:

  • Extra Fine (Turkish) = 1 - 2 clicks
  • Fine (Espresso) = 3 - 4
  • Medium-Fine (Fine-Medium?) = 5 - 6
  • Medium (Filter) = 7 - 8
  • Medium-Coarse = 9 - 10
  • Coarse (French Press) = 11 - 12

It’s slim and light enough to fit into any bag - no matter how light you pack - and dispels static so you don’t always have old grounds in the lower chamber. The grinding arm is improved for more comfortable grinding and the hopper has a capacity of 40g.

Great entry grinder

This grinder was my first coffee grinder, and I'm incredibly happy with it. Once you start grinding freshly for your cup you won't go back. I'm happy with the volume as it can comfortably do 35g plus, which is more than enough for a cup each for my wife and I. I'm happy with the grind size, which is easy to dial in, and consistency, given its price point. I would highly recommend.

Good grinder

Overall pretty happy with this grinder although would have liked to fit more than 40g worth of grinds in the bottom chamber. Ideally 50g. Also I feel like you need to hold the two halves together when grinding as they feel like they may come apart

Excellent grinder

First manual grinder I have owned. After doing some searching on the internet I decided the Porlex Tall was a good place to start. I can’t complain about value for money. I use the grinder for French press and Aeropress so am using coarse grind settings. Takes a grind or two to get used to the machine but after that, easy. Very happy with my purchase.

New to manual grinders and predominantly grinding for Moka Pot. Tossing up between this and the Rhinowares Hand Grinder. Is there any real difference?
Answers (1)
Hi Dec, Thanks for your question. This would be a very good choice for Moka Pot brewing. There a small internal differences between the two Brands. Porlex is notably a more reliable grinder, with slighter better performance with its burrs. Kind regards,Alternative Brewing

Just wondering roughly how long it would take to grind for a 2 cup moka pot. Thanks!
Answers (1)
Hi Anna,

Thanks for your question. Using the Porlex to grind for a Two Cup Moka Pot - say you're using about 25g coffee. It should take around 2mins, at that particular grind setting.

Kind regards, Alternative Brewing

Is this suitable for an espresso machine?
Answers (1)
Hi Esh, Thanks for your question. The Porlex Grinder being a Ceramic burr hand grinder would not be a recommendation for espresso brewing simply as the fine grind required of espresso brewing is not achievable or at the very least - very hard to produce using these burrs manually. I would look at either a grinder that uses steel burrs or an Automatic Grinder - that's designed for espresso brewing. Kind regards, Alternative Brewing

i have had a porlex for about 10 years. great little grinder, except the handle falls of all the time.....has this been dealt with in the new version
Answers (1)
Hi Rye, Thanks for your question. Love to hear about the durability of the Porlex's. I know so many people who don't go with anything else bc. of that. The new version has a slightly better constructed handle, using even more durable parts in the connections and frame, however there has been no overall design changes. Still a fantastic grinder for the price. Kind regards, Alternative Brewing

I’ve had a Porlex for about 3 years and use it daily. Do I need to replace the burrs?
Answers (1)
Hi PB, Thanks for your question. You'll need to replace the burrs eventually. They're easily replaceable and not expensive – but unless you're finding you can't get the same grind with it and it's noticeably coarser.. you should be good. Kind regards, Alternative Brewing
