Guatemala El Limar

A new year means new resolutions right? Maybe learning a new language, or a new skill, or the classic, dieting. The first thing gone is sugary sweet things right? Get your hands on your newest guilty pleasure – the Guatemala El Limar, the crisp, floral-like sweetness of muscat grape, the chocolatey sweetness of hazelnut, and the rich sweetness of toffee. Forget the guilt, just enjoy the pleasure.

Myanmar Wa Ran

The world still slumbers on, but you’ve got worms to catch. It’s just you, the birds, and the crisp morning air. There are no responsibilities, not yet at least, except to enjoy your cup of coffee. Notes of blackberry and strawberry will rub the sleep from your eye, and the mulled wine note will keep you warm from the inside out. Carpe Diem, with the Wa Ran

Costa Rica El Trapiche

This one is dessert decadence on absolute display, a demonstration of Costa Rica’s finest reputation can be found in El Trapiche – be quick as we only have a limited supply of this rotations best in show filter. This magnificent SL28 variety comes from no other than Diego Santa Maria & Mauricio Serrano, and is our 2nd year of purchasing from these beautiful people. El Trapiche is a third-generation family farm in Costa Rica, which not only grow excellent coffee – they also grow sugar, cacao and other delicious decadent fruits.

There must be magic in the air and soil at this farm, as the results that you smell and taste take you on a journey of the senses. Be prepared for a dessert-like experience because we taste sweetness akin to fragrant raspberries, a concentrated orange-ness like Cointreau and to top it all off a “bougie” like Malteser note. A serious must try!

Kenya Kariani AB

Even though summer is shyly escaping us, find yourself an excuse for a refresh with this gorgeous double washed filter from Kenya Kariani, produced by Mwirua Smallholders. The Kariaini Coffee Factory is covered with red volcanic soil and receives a high amount of annual rainfall which explains their topography and voluminous coffee production.

This picturesque landscape could not escape our minds as we tried this coffee for the first time, revelling in the absolute freshness the double washed processing method delivers in your mouth. Inside we discovered flavour notes of the coolest iced sprite, summer honeydew, and sweet-ever-so-slight tart blackberry. Reach for Kenya Kariaini when you are craving that summer cooldown, and enjoy the provocative landscapes of freshness.

Peru Palma

This lovely washed filter offering comes from Damian Garcia Espinoza’s Palma farm in Peru, and will definitely give you the wholesome experience expected from Peru’s lush highlands. Peru is actually ranked fifth in the world for the production and export of Arabica coffees worldwide, and traditionally you may have been surprised to see us offering this in a filter rotation.

Peru has had more microlot development in recent years, with farmers and producers seeking to push the boundaries of what their coffees can bring to the specialty world. Inside the cup, we found earthy nostalgia manifest in evocative brown spices, nutty carob sweetness and sustaining almonds. Give this one a try and you will be pleasantly surprised by the wholesomeness.
